School bus driver facing stunt driving charges in Laurentian Valley Township

A school bus driver is facing stunt driving charges after getting caught going over 100 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone with children on board. 

The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. 

The driver was caught going 106 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Micksburg Rd. in Laurentian Valley Township. 

A 54-year-old from Laurentian Valley Township was charged with racing a motor vehicle - excessive speed, and speeding 1-49 km/h over the posted limit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Children on board the bus were provided alternative transportation. 

The school bus was impounded. 

The driver was issued a summons to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke. 

The driver's license was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days.
