2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards: 7 Canadians Nominated

Canada’s The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, Drake and Justin Bieber are among the nominees for the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

All five Ontario-born artists have multiple nominations for the eighth annual celebration of music on May 27 from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Performers and presenters will be announced soon.

Toronto native JP Saxe is vying for Best New Pop Artist, Frank Dukes (aka Toronto’s Adam Feeney) is nominated for Producer of the Year and Calgary singer Tate McRae is up for the Social Star Award.

The Weeknd, who was shut out of this year’s Grammy Awards, is up for Song of the Year (“Blinding Lights”) and Male Artist of the Year (against Bieber) as well as several socially-voted categories.

Other multiple nominees include Roddy Ricch, Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.

Social voting in categories like Best Fan Army and the new TikTok Bop of the Year runs until May 19 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
