Canadian Singer Grimes Welcomes Baby Boy With Elon Musk
Canadian singer Grimes welcomed a baby boy on Monday with Tesla and Space X entrepreneur Elon Musk.
“Mom and baby all good,” Musk, 48, tweeted. He later said the couple named their son “X Æ A-12 Musk" and tweeted a photo of the newborn with tattoos on his face. "Never too young for some ink haha," he joked.
Grimes, who was born Claire Boucher, opened up about her pregnancy in January. “This whole thing has been a bit of an ordeal. Had some complications early on, a decent second trimester but starting to hurt everywhere at 25 wksz,” the Vancouver native shared in an Instagram post. “I feel like I was woefully ill prepared … I just didn’t rly understand what I was getting into.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone published in March, 32-year-old Grimes spoke about how allowing herself to get pregnant meant sacrificing her body and freedom.
“It was really profound to me when I decided I was going to do it, to actually go through the act of like, y’know, unprotected sex,” she explained. “I’m just like, I have sacrificed my power in this moment. I have, like, capitulated, And I have spent my whole life avoiding that situation. I have never capitulated to anything, so it was just a profound commitment.”
It is the first child for Grimes and sixth for Musk, who has five sons – twins Griffin and Xavier and triplets Damain, Saxon and Kai – from his marriage to author Justine Wilson.
Grimes released her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, in February.
