Former Fleetwood Mac Guitarist Danny Kirwan Dead At 68

Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Danny Kirwan was found dead on Friday. He was 68.

The news of Kirwan’s death came after Mick Fleetwood made an announcement on the band’s Facebook page. A cause of death is unknown.

"Today was greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kirwan in London, England,” wrote Fleetwood. “Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.

"Danny’s true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured for over fifty years.

"Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will forever be missed!”

Kirwan was a member of the legendary rock band between 1968 and 1972, contributing to four major albums, 1969's Then Play On, 1970's Kiln House, 1971's Future Games and 1972's Bare Trees. After departing from Fleetwood Mac, Kirwan attempted a solo career that never took off, before he disappeared from the public eye.
