Funeral Arrangements Set For Aretha Franklin


Aretha Franklin’s public viewing and funeral will be held in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan over three days at three locations.

The Queen of Soul’s publicist Gwendolyn Quinn announced on Friday that an open casket public viewing will be held on Aug. 28 and 29, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit from 9 am to 9 pm.

The funeral service will be held at the Greater Grace Temple on Aug. 31, and will be limited to family and close friends.

Franklin will then be laid to rest alongside her father, Rev. C.L. Franklin, brother Cecil Franklin, sisters Carolyn Franklin and Erma Franklin and her nephew, Thomas Garrett at Woodlawn Cemetery, according to Variety.

Franklin died at the age of 76 on Thursday from pancreatic cancer at her home in Detroit.
