Jack White's Third Man Records label has dusted off a number of lost and forgotten records and reissued them in its time. The latest to get White's resurrecting touch is Toronto's Big Sugar.

On February 16, Third Man is set to reissue the Canadian blues-rock veterans' 1993 debut album, 500 Pounds (aka Five Hundred Pounds), for the first time on vinyl in the U.S. (The band themselves reissued the Canadian version back in 2021.)

In a video posted to socials, White explains that he rarely promotes his releases this way, but felt he had to because it was such an important record to him, adding that he first bought it as a teenager when he saw Big Sugar play Pontiac, MI in 1993. He goes on to call 500 Pounds “the best blues based record to ever come out of Canada.”

The limited edition version of the reissue featuring a frosted blues variant plus a bonus lime green 7" is already sold out, however, the standard black vinyl is still available.
