Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson is being sued for posting a photo of herself on Instagram.
New York City photographer Fernando Ramales filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Hudson seeking as much as $175,000 U.S. in damages, Page Six reported.
Ramales’ photo of the Dreamgirls star was published online on Dec. 21, 2019. On New Year’s Eve, Hudson shared it on Instagram with a message about starting 2020 “just as grateful as I can be!”
The lawsuit accuses Hudson of using the photo without permission and cropped out a watermark that identified the copyright holder.
A number of celebrities have been slapped with lawsuits in recent years for posting paparazzi photos of themselves on social media. Jennifer Lopez was sued in 2018 by photographer Michael Stewart and again just last month by Steve Sands.
