DJ and producer Dave Audé has given new life to a 40-year-old song with a title that serves as a reminder of the need for social distancing.
“Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” featured on The Police’s Zenyatta Mondatta, is about a young woman’s crush on a teacher that turns into an affair – but the song’s titular refrain has made it resonate with a new generation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Audé remixed the track with the blessing of Sting, who wrote and sang it.
