With only days to go before Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album drops, the pop star has released the title track – an ode to her boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn.
“Can I go where you go? / Can we always be this close? / Forever and ever / Take me out / And take me home / You’re my my my my / Lover,” Swift sings.
The pop star fuels speculation that she and Alwyn are engaged – or possibly married – with a verse about tying the knot.
“Ladies and gentlemen will you please stand / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover.”
“Lover” is the fourth single from the album following “ME!,” “You Need to Calm Down” and “The Archer.” A video for the track will debut at 5 p.m. EST on Aug. 22 and the album will be out hours later.
Swift is set to perform on the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 26.
