A demo recorded by Amy Winehouse when she was 17 years old has been shared online.
The song, “My Own Way,” was recorded in hopes of landing Winehouse a record deal. It was penned by Gil Cang, James McMillan and Maryanne Morgan.
“Amy came in to see us, opened her mouth and just blew us all away,” recalled Cang, to the Camden New Journal. "We were struck immediately by her talent – it was a real jaw on the floor moment. We were like wow, yes.”
Winehouse was signed in 2002 and released her debut album, Frank, in 2003.
The singer died in 2011. She was 27.
