Lil Nas X’s crossover hit with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus is among the top nominees at this year’s American Music Awards.

“Old Town Road” is up for Favourite Song, Collaboration of the Year and Favourite Music Video. Lil Nas X also earned a tip of the hat for Favourite New Artist, where he is competing against Luke Combs.

Combs is also nominated for Favourite Male Country Artist and Favourite Song (‘Beautiful Crazy”). Also in the latter category is “Speechless” by Dan + Shay and “God’s Country” by Blake Shelton.

Dan + Shay are vying for Favourite Country Duo or Group against Florida Georgia Line and Old Dominion and their self-titled album is nominated for Favourite Country Album with Kane Brown’s Experiment and Carrie Underwood’s Cry Pretty.

The 2019 American Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Nov. 24.

Nominations are based on “streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, social activity and touring” between Sept. 28, 2018 and Sept. 26, 2019, according to a release. Winners are determined by fan votes.
