My Chemical Romance’s first tour in nine years is going to have to wait another year thanks to COVID-19.
On Tuesday, the band announced new dates for its reunion tour, which was supposed to stop in Toronto on Sept. 14. Instead, MCR will play the Scotiabank Arena on Sept. 9, 2021.
“As a band, we are deeply aware of the profound problems and crucial issues the world is facing right now," read a message to fans on Instagram. "These issues are all life-changing, and we have them in the forefront of our minds on a regular basis. All of our focus should be on making the world better in every way we can.”
MCR said it felt is is “the right thing to let people know that we have rescheduled our shows, so that we can offer people a refund on tickets in these difficult financial times.” Tickets will be honoured on the new date but fans who would prefer can get one from the point of purchase.
“We cannot wait to play for you,” the band’s message said. “Take care of each other and yourselves. We will see you soon.”
MCR split up in 2013 after 12 years and four studio albums. The band’s last tour was a short European one in 2010.
