Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran Among UK's Wealthiest Music Acts
Ed Sheeran wealth has doubled to $280 million, according to the 2019 Sunday Times Rich List.
The 28-year-old singer’s Divide Tour grossed an estimated $578 million last year, making him the 17th richest music act in the UK and Ireland.
Sheeran has surpassed Adele, who is 22nd on this year’s Rich List with an estimated worth of $262 million.
The biggest bank, though, belongs to icons of British bands The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Paul McCartney, 76, ranked No. 2 on the Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated worth of $1.3 billion (down $122 million from last year) and Ringo Starr, 78, is No. 8 with $420 million. George Harrison’s wife Olivia Harrison and son Dhani Harrison have an estimated worth of $437 million and rank seventh.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both 75, are fifth and sixth with $481 million and $455 million respectively.
With an estimated worth of a little more than $1 billion, U2 ranked No. 3. Elton John is at No. 4 with $560 million and Sting ranked 10th with $350 million.
The surviving members of Queen had a good year, too: Brian May ($280 million), Roger Taylor ($271 million) and John Deacon ($227 million).
So, who is the wealthiest music act in the UK and Ireland this year? At the top of the Sunday Times Rich List, which will be published May 12, is composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber, who is reportedly worth a whopping $1.4 billion.
