R Kelly Hit With 11 More Sex Charges
R Kelly has been slapped with 11 new charges of sexual assault and abuse.
The indictments, handed down by a grand jury in Illinois, include aggravated criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault.
In February, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four alleged victims between 1998 to 2010. Three of the four females were between the ages of 13 and 16 at the time of the alleged incidents. The age of consent in Illinois is 17.
Steve Greenberg, a lawyer for the R&B singer, tweeted that his client was “NOT charged with a new case. He was recharged in an existing case, same alleged victim and time (a decade ago) It changes nothing.
“These are the same conduct, just charged differently, same alleged victim, same time frame, same facts. We expect the same results.”
The new charges are related Jerhonda Pace for alleged incidents between May 1, 2009 and Jan. 31, 2010. On Thursday, she shared on Facebook: “I know his fans are mad about it. Please, DO NOT contact me telling me how I'm wrong for pursuing criminal charges all of these years later. Blah! No matter how 'wrong' you think I am, the law is on my side, a MINOR at the time. Carry on.”
Kelly, who has previously denied all the allegations against him, is scheduled to appear in court on June 6. “Stop it. Y’all quit playing. Quit playing," he told Gayle King of CBS This Morning in March. "I didn’t do this stuff! This is not me! I’m fighting for my f**king life."
