Shawn Mendes Up For 6 MTV Europe Music Awards

Shawn Mendes is the top Canadian on the list of nominees for the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards, which was unveiled Tuesday.

The 21-year-old singer earned nods for Best Artist, Best Pop and Biggest Fans as well as both Best Song and Best Collaboration for his Camila Cabello duet “Señorita.”

He is also competing for Best Canadian Act against Alessia Cara, Carly Rae Jepsen, Avril Lavigne and first-time MTV EMAs nominee Johnny Orlando.

Mendes has won 10 MTV EMAs since 2015.

Overall, Ariana Grande leads the way with seven nominations, followed by Mendes, Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish with six each. J Balvin has five nods and Taylor Swift and Lizzo earned four apiece.

The MTV EMAs will be handed out Nov. 3 in Seville, Spain.
