Sia Opens Up About Health Issues

Pop star Sia revealed late Sunday that she is taking time off to complete “intensive therapy” for Complex PTSD.

“Turns out my bipolar diagnosis was wrong,” she tweeted.

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder is caused by a series of events, or one prolonged event.

The condition is one of several Sia has opened up about in recent days. On Friday, the famously private singer shared that she suffers chronic pain, a neurological disease and ehlers danlos.

Ehlers Danlos is a genetic syndrome that weakens connective tissue in the body. Sia, 43, said her neuralgia is caused by a routine surgery she had three years ago.

“My TSH is also 29, it's supposed to be below 4, so I'm severely hypothyroid,” she tweeted Sunday, referring to the thyroid stimulating hormone test. (Sia told Billboard magazine in 2013 that she got sober after being diagnosed with hyperthyroid disease.)

“Oh yeah, herniated c6-7 c4-5 and cubitle tunnel syndrome.”

Sia added that she has no STDs – “which frankly, is miraculous given my twenties.”

The “Chandelier” star offered support for others in the same situation.

“I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going,” she tweeted Friday. “Life is f**king hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you're not alone.”

On Sunday, she put her health issues in perspective. “Plenty of people suffering more than me. At least I have resources,” she conceded. “I really feel for those struggling w/the healthcare system. KEEP GOING!”
