Suga Of BTS Recovering From Surgery
BTS member Suga is recovering from surgery last week to fix damaged cartilage in his left shoulder.
“The surgery, to address a problem that had constantly been a health and wellness issue for Suga, was completed successfully,” read a statement from Big Hit Entertainment. "Suga must undergo a strict and unhindered period of recovery.”
The 27-year-old singer and dancer, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, had been experiencing pain since an accident in 2012 and was diagnosed with a disclosed shoulder the following year. Last year, doctors told Suga he had a labral tear.
“Since then, he has continued to receive various treatment to prevent his injury from affecting his activities.”
According to the statement, Suga had the surgery on Nov. 3 so he can “prepare for his mandatory military service as well as his post-service musical career.”
BTS is scheduled to perform on the American Music Awards on Nov. 22. It is not known if the appearance was taped in advance of Suga’s surgery or if it will include only the six other members of the group.
