SZA Honoured At Webby Awards

SZA

SZA was honoured Monday as Artist of the Year at the 27th Webby Awards, which were handed out in New York City.

The singer received the special achievement award in recognition of “the true intention and consideration she injects into her work, and for her ingenious use of the internet to share unique, brilliantly honest art.”

Webby winners are required to keep their acceptance speeches to five words, so SZA said simply: “The internet scares me, thanks!”

In March, SZA accepted the Woman of the Year award at the Billboard Women in Music 2023 gala.

Also at Monday's Webby Awards, Grammy-nominated rapper Tobe Nwigwe was honoured for his “innovative use of the Internet to create art that is imaginative and poignant.” He accepted with: “A real n***** won, ha!”

Also accepting a special achievement award was actress Tracee Ellis Ross – the daughter of Diana Ross – who told the audience: “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Webby Award winners included a number of podcasts available on iHeartRadio, including Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, Pod Save America, The Problem with Jon Stewart, Here’s Where It Gets Interesting and Unexplainable.
