The Who Shares Album Details, Lead Single

The Who has taken the wraps off their first new album in 13 years and has gifted fans with its lead single.

Titled Who, the 11-track collection will be released on Dec. 6. It was recorded earlier this year in London and Los Angeles and produced by Pete Townshend, D. Sardy and Dave Eringa.

“There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) wrote to give Roger Daltrey some inspiration, challenges and scope for his newly revived singing voice,” explained Townshend, in a release.

“Roger and I are both old men now, by any measure, so I’ve tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I can. I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Memories are OK, and some of the songs refer to the explosive state of things today.”

Daltrey said Who is the duo’s best album since 1973’s Quadrophenia. “Pete hasn’t lost it,” he said. “He’s still a fabulous songwriter, and he’s still got that cutting edge.”

The first single is “Ball and Chain.” Listen to it below:
