Just in time for his Father’s Day special on Pure Country, Canadian country singer Gord Bamford has released a song about a father’s love and connection with his kids.
In “Father’s Prayer,” Bamford sings: “I kinda hope that my old truck is your first car / I hope that when you spread your wings, you don't fly too far / I pray, yeah I pray, you get your patience from your Mom / And I hope that voice inside you tells you right from wrong … Hope you know when you need me / I'm always there / And that you’re an answer to a father’s prayer.”
The Alberta-raised 44-year-old has three children with wife Kendra: son Nash, 15, and daughters Paisley, 12, and Memphis, 10.
“This song gives me chills every time I hear it,” said Bamford, in a release. “It reminds me of the most important thing in my life and that’s getting to be a role model for my children – supporting and watching them grow as they chase their dreams and find their path.”
On Sunday, Bamford will give a special performance of “Father’s Prayer” on the Gord Bamford’s Real Country Livin’ Father’s Day Special, an hour-long star-studded special that will be broadcast across Canada at 10 a.m. local time on Pure Country stations, here at iHeartRadio.ca and on Pure Country’s YouTube channel.
The special will raise funds for Bamford’s eponymous foundation and other youth-focused charities across Canada.
