Toronto’s Monowhales on Tuesday released “Real Love,” the second single from the indie rock band’s forthcoming EP Control Freak.
The song, about being addicted to an abusive relationship, was produced by Al-P of Toronto electronic music duo MSTRKRFT. It comes with a video directed by Phil Kluba and Dan Slater.
“When we started thinking about the video for this song, it became clear that we all wanted to capture the themes of delusion and uncertainty that the lyrics convey so well,” Monowhales drummer Jordan Circosta said, in a release.
“We were able to create environments that trick the viewer into thinking they understand what they’re seeing, only to have us reveal the movie magic behind each illusion.”
The video for Monowhales single “Take It Back” garnered more than 1.4 million views on Facebook since it debuted in September.
Control Freak is set for release on June 1 and will be supported by an Ontario tour.
