Elton John fans will be able to experience his Canadian concerts this month and next in a whole new way.
PEEX, a wearable device paired with an app, allows concert-goers to create their own mix of the live sound from the music icon and his band. Fans can enhance the vocals, turn up the guitar – or tune out the person next to them singing along to "Tiny Dancer."
“I am passionate about giving my fans my best possible performance and making sure they get the best possible experience,” John said, in a release. "Over the last four years I’ve been working with the talented team at PEEX, who have developed an incredible new technology that will revolutionize the way fans listen to live music.”
PEEX CEO Patrick Vosgimorukian said the tech is a “game-charger for fans,” who can customize their sound experience.
PEEX will be available for the first time in Canada at all 11 upcoming stops on John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
He plays Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Sept. 21, 22 and 24; Rogers Place in Edmonton on Sept. 27 and 28; Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon on Oct. 1 and 2; Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg on Oct. 4 and 5; and Scotiabank Arena on Oct. 23 and 24.
Fans can rent PEEX at the venues for $15 U.S. or pre-book it online (use the discount code “ELTON” to save 20 per cent).
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which included five shows in Canada last year, runs until Dec. 2020.
