Weezer Releases Album Of Cover Songs

Last year, Weezer scored its highest-charting single in nearly a decade with a fan-requested cover of Toto’s 1982 hit “Africa” – so it should be no surprise that the band has put together a collection of covers.

Weezer puts its spin on Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” TLC’s “No Scrubs” and a-ha’s “Take On Me” on The Teal Album.

It’s a fun warm-up for The Black Album, a collection of new original material by the band, that drops March 1.

On The Teal Album, Weezer also covers the Eurythmics classic “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) and the Tears For Fears hit “Everybody Want To Rule The World” as well as songs by Black Sabbath (“Paranoid”) and ELO (“Mr. Blue Sky”).

The band really throws back with covers of The 1967 Turtles track “Happy Together” and 1961’s Ben E. King classic “Stand By Me.”

Weezer plays Montreal’s Bell Centre on March 13 and Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on April 7.
