Fairmont Royal York IS the place to be
Without a doubt, the new Fairmont Royal York is no longer your grampas hotel. We just finished a magnificent weekend staycation with every aspect of service and amenities surpassing our expectations.

The hotel has just gone through an extensive multi million dollar renovation..the first in 91 year history that includes a brand new lobby bar called Clockworks which is now the new meeting place for business and tourists. There's also an astronomical clock that I've never seen before. This is one of the coolest lobby bars you'll ever see with a touch of new blending railway days from years gone by. Seats about 75 people.
There's also the new Reign restaurant along with another cool piano bar featuring a very rare German made piano...only 80 in the world.
A new art deco fire pit is surrounded by couches and chairs making for a cozy end to your evening with specialty drinks from round the world. Blend that comfort with soft piano playing and you've got the #1 place to now enjoy in the city. The flame is set for atmosphere not heat so very comfortable to enjoy.
Reign restaurant is very unique with framed prints of English country side reflecting executive chefs belief of farm to table meals. All these new additions catch your eye when entering the hotel along with a new check in area making transition to your room fast and convenient.
We had the pleasure of staying on the brand new Gold Club level..floors 12-18... with separate check in, professional concierges, larger updated rooms and a beautiful 18th floor lounge with chef inspired food and drinks for all ages. It's not a club and open to anyone wishing to experience a special evening or weekend. You will pay a little extra but as the saying goes...it's priceless.
This is a flagship concept for some future Fairmont properties and very well received by guests and visitors. We loved it.. There's a wonderful happy hour every night that's a popular and relaxing meeting place before planning a night out on the town or taking in the many attractions Toronto has to offer.
The new Royal York is situated in the heart of Toronto's business and sports community just a couple blocks from the Scotiabank Arena and Rogers Center.
I get to travel the world and there's one thing I always look for in hotels...it's staff. If the staff are happy are treated properly by upper management then it filters through to the guests. This is one feature of the new Royal York that stands out upon arrival along with meticulous detail. From the greeting by doorman..which is rare to find these days to friendly and happy staff at check in, room attendants, restaurant staff and cleaning staff.. It's a very happy and comfortable hotel to enjoy with amazing food to compliment your stay.
We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the new Reign restaurant on lobby floor with outstanding service, simple but detailed menu along with an extensive wine list. We enjoyed the fresh scallop meal which was an absolute treat. Executive chefs make your culinary experience a complete joy including house raised honey which is another very rare feature of the new Royal York.
In conclusion, the new Royal York is a place to see and be seen. It's the new go to cool hotel in Toronto and with Valentines Day coming up I'd suggest booking a romantic weekend at the new Royal York, Gold Club Level and you won't be disappointed.
