Crews battle fire at Ajax auto-wrecker's yard

Emergency crews fought a large fire at an auto-wrecker's yard in Ajax Saturday morning.
It happened at Ajax Auto Wreckers on Dowty Road in the Bayly Street and Westney Road area around 6:30 a.m.
Worries of poor air quality because of the fire prompted Durham Regional Police to ask people living in the area to stay indoors and keep their windows closed and others to avoid the area.

The fire was quickly contained and as of around 8:30 a.m. smoke was no longer a concern in the area.

Dowty Road was closed while crews fought the fire.
