Hamilton Police have charged a 70-year-old man after he allegedly called 9-1-1, to complain about the most recent Amber Alert.

Police say he called them just after 5 o'clock on October 1st, and admitted that he was calling the emergency number simply to tie up the lines. He told the call-taker that he was angry about receiving the Amber Alert on his phone, because he was trying to get some rest.

He also threatened to keep calling in response to the on-going alert.

The man has been identified as 70-year-old Douglas Bagshaw, who has been charged with mischief.

Police admit, they believe this is the first time that someone has been charged with calling 9-1-1 with an Amber Alert complaint.
