Is the CNE dead?
The CNE was forced to cancelled this year's event because of COVID-19. Now, it's reporting a loss of $6 million and officials say without help, it may not make it past next year.
Executive Director Darrell Brown says without money from governments, or leasing or licensing concessions from the City of Toronto, it may not be able to operate past 2021.
However, he expects governments will step in to help, given the fair's economic impact.
Brown says it generates more than $128 million in economic activity for the province and $93 million for the city.
The CNE is expected to lose more than $35 million in revenue from this year's cancellation. It's working on securing a loan to get through next year.
