Last day to purchase tokens and tickets at TTC collector booths
A big part of Toronto transit history comes to an end Saturday.
This is the last day TTC riders will be able to purchase tickets, tokens and day passes at collector booths throughout the system.
Tokens,in one form or another, have been part of the TTC system since 1954.
According to the Toronto Transit Commission, riders who still have some or tickets, will still be able to use them.
The TTC has not set an end date for their use, but is encouraging customers to use their remaining TTC tickets, tokens and day passes as soon as they can, because refunds will not be issued.
Some third party sellers, including school boards and social service agencies, will continue to sell tokens and tickets, until a new bulk sales program for distributing PRESTO cards and PRESTO tickets is available.
The move is a not so subtle push towards the implementation of the PRESTO card full time.
Infrequent travellers or visitors to the city can purchase one-ride, two-ride or day pass PRESTO Tickets from a Fare Vending Machine at all subway stations, Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto and from the TTC Customer Service Centre at Davisville Station.
