Number of new cases up, but fewer active cases of COVID-19

Provincial health officials are reporting 133 new cases of COVID-19 which is up compared to yesterday, and is also higher than the seven-day average of 116 new infections.

Toronto and Peel Region combined to make up nearly 58% of the new infections, with 34 new cases in Peel and 43 reported in Toronto.

But health official say the number of people getting better, was higher than those getting sick. That means there's fewer active cases in the province. It's only the second time in the last 20 days that the number of active cases in the province has dropped.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped slightly with 60 people currently in hospital, compared to 65 on Tuesday.

21 of the 34 public health units in the province have reported no new cases at all.

No new deaths have been reported, with the total number of deaths in the province at 2,812.
