Toronto cancels fun...for longer
The City of Toronto has extended the cancellation of all permits for major festivals, until at least August 31st.
Originally, the permits were cancelled through June.
"To slow the spread of COVID-19, the City of Toronto is extending the cancellation of City-led and City-permitted major festivals and events with attendance of more than 250 people through July 31, and those with attendance of 25,000 or more through August 31," says the city in a press release.
But since the original announcement, it was revealed that the CNE was being cancelled for 2020, which would have run from mid-August until Labour Day.
Among the events being cancelled: Honda Indy, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Salsa on St Clair, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Toronto Triathlon Festival and Big on Bloor, among others.
