UPDATE: Victim of shooting near Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road has been identified

shooting

There's been another fatal shooting on Toronto streets overnight.

It comes just over 3 weeks after another shooting in the same area of the Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road neighbourhood.

This time, a man suffered critical injuries after a shooting early this morning.

Toronto police received several reports of gunshots being fired around 1:45 a.m.

Police and EMS responded and found the victim suffering from serious injuries.

A person who works nearby told our media partner CP24 that he heard the shots fired.

"We just heard some shots. It's like (we're) used to it. A few weeks ago it was the same case. It was like a normal thing to us."

The male victim was rushed via emergency run to a trauma centre, but was later pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 42 year-old Craig Campbell, a father from Toronto.

Detectives say there was a party happening in the area at the time of the shooting. They're asking anyone who was there to come forward.

Now while investigators say the shooting was targeted, it's unclear at this time if Campbell was indeed the intended target.

According to witnesses, a dark-coloured SUV was seen fleeing the scene.

A motive or suspect description has not been released.
