WATCH: Suspect wanted in an attempted abduction of little girl in North York Friday

An 8 year-old girl is safe, but she and her family are still quite shaken by the attempted abduction of the little girl Friday afternoon.

Toronto Police just releasing details of the incident this afternoon.

It's alleged that the 8 year-old was approached around 3:30 p.m. by a man near Blaydon Public School - that's near Keele and Wilson in North York.

Police say he grabbed her, covered her mouth with his hand, dragged her about 60 metres to an SUV and tried to force her into the vehicle.

Somehow she managed to break free and ran away.

The suspect is described as white, 40-50 years old, about 5'8", with a skinny build, and short grey hair.

He was wearing a blue and pink T-shirt, grey sweat pants, and black dress shoes.

Security camera images show a red car, believed to be a Mazda CX-5 with tinted windows, fleeing the scene.

Anyone with dashcam video or information that could help officers identify the suspect in this case, is asked to call police.
