Watchdog agency investigates after man shot, killed by police in Brampton

A young man is dead after a shooting in Brampton's north end.

Witnesses on a residential street near Bovaird Dr. and McLaughlin Rd. heard gunfire just before 5:30pm Monday afternoon.

Police officers arrived at a home on Sawston Circle on reports of what Peel Regional Police call a 'domestic incident.'

Officers confronted a man inside the home, and at least one gunshot was fired by police.

It isn't clear what was happening in the moments before the gun went off.

The Special Investigations Unit, Ontario's police watch-dog agency, has been called in to investigate.
