Woman charged in death of toddler, who fell from the window of a 14th floor apartment
Toronto Police have announced charges against a 31-year-old woman in the death of a toddler back in July.
The little boy somehow managed to fall from the window of a 14th floor apartment near Driftwood and Jane. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police now say the child was asleep on the floor, when the woman allegedly left the unit, leaving him there alone.
It was during that time, he fell from the window.
A 31-year-old woman turned herself into police and has been charged with Criminal Negligence causing death and a parent/spouse not providing the necessaries of life.
Toronto Police weren't able to tell NEWSTALK 1010, if the woman was the boy's mother or a step-mom, but they did release the following statement:
The Toronto Police Service is not publishing/confirming the name of the woman or the boy in this incident. While we appreciate the compelling public interest in this case, our priority is to protect the privacy of the child and, as a result, no information that may lead to his identity will be released.
