York University instructor arrested, charged with sexual assault

He allegedly assaulted the women on a TTC subway

A York University professor has been arrested, charged with sexual assault.

Nicolae Stefan Pop is accused of sexually assaulting two women on a TTC subway between Jan. 3 and Jan. 16.

Last month, photos began to circulate of a man sitting on a subway that witnesses accused of groping a woman.

Police say they began to investigate after three people came to them and reported the incidents.

York University has published a statement on its website confirming the arrest of one of its part-time instructors, adding he has not taught on campus since January 20th.

The statement goes on to read "We encourage anyone with information about this case to contact Toronto Police Service or York Security Services.
