BREAKING: Actor Sean Connery has passed away at the age of 90


The BBC is reporting that actor Sean Connery has passed away.

The passing was reportedly confimed by Connery's family.

Connery died in his sleep in the Bahamas on Saturday.

He had reportedly been ill for sometime.

Connery was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were ``devastated by the news.'' 

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was ``heartbroken'' at the news.

His acting career included winning an Oscar for his role in The Untouchables as well as three Golden Globes.

Sir Sean's other films included The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

Connery was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000.

In August, he celebrated his 90th birthday.
