There's a big wrestling event, SHINE 60, set for this Saturday afternoon over in Livonia, Michigan.

One of the wrestlers, Leah Vaughan is a graduate of the University of Windsor, and she'll be fighting against Lindsay Snow.

The 31-year-old Vaughan, who lives in London, says she was young when she wanted to get involved in the sport.

"I always wanted to be a wrestler since I was 12 years old," says Vaughan. "I was about 17 years old when I thought this could actually be a reality and when I was 24 I decided to pursue my dream."

Vaughan tells AM800 Sports she won an essay contest arranged by former pro-wrestler Edge which has as its prize a scholarship for training at Squared Circle Training in Toronto.

"WWE Hall of Famer, EDGE was the judge and he picked the top 10 essays," says Vaughan. "We went down to Toronto and met with him, told him why we loved wrestling, and he chose the winner, and that was me."

She had appeared on several occasions in the World Wrestling Entertainment, acting as one of Adam Rose's Rosebuds.

In addition to wrestling, she has also made an appearance in a music video by the band The Creekside Strays as well as one by Joey Stylez.

She has a degree in Kinesiology from University of Windsor and an Esthetics diploma from Fanshawe College in London.
