W.E Care for Kids Tops Fundraising Total
WINDSOR — A record setting year for the W.E Care for Kids Campaign.
It unveiled the 2019 fundraising total, raising $515,000 — $15,000 more than the previous year.
It is the most ever raised in a single year for the campaign to support local paediatric equipment and services.
A celebration luncheon took place Friday afternoon at the Fogolar Furlan hosted by AM800's Lisa Williams and Leah Hanson, to thank the children involved in raising the funds.
"These kids with their lemonade stand raising over $10,000 by themselves, is just unbelieveable," says Campaign President Mike Brain.
Every dollar raised stays local.
Brain believes the momentum for the campaign is growing.
"I credit a lot to the parents and their children," he says. "The word is getting out more and more that we do need more paediatric care down in Windsor. You don't ever want to see a family going up the 401 and having to spend the night up in Toronto so the more amenities and equipment we can have in town, is better for everybody."
In its 22 years, the campaign has raised more than $8.7-million.
