Shawn Mendes Releases Concert Film Shot In Toronto
Shawn Mendes shared some good news Tuesday for fans who wanted more performance footage in his new Netflix documentary In Wonder.
“Wanted to give you guys something as a thank you for all of the love on the doc,” the 22-year-old Canadian singer tweeted. “I know we all miss live shows so much right now so tonight we're releasing #LiveInConcert, the full concert film from the Rogers Centre show.”
The 90-minute special was shot Sept. 6, 2019 in front of more than 50,000 fans in Toronto.
When Mendes’ first stadium concert was announced in December 2018, he told iHeartRadio: “It feels like it’s the right time to do it. To play a stadium has been that dream that I’ve had since I was really, really little.
“To have the dream become a reality right now is kind of a surreal feeling.”
Mendes had previously performed inside the Rogers Centre in October 2015 as opening act for Taylor Swift. The singer, who lives just blocks away from the stadium, said the show will “probably be the biggest moment of my career thus far.”
The hometown show was the biggest one during Shawn Mendes: The Tour, a 106-date trek last year that grossed an estimated $125 million.
In Wonder and Shawn Mendes: Live In Concert are warm-ups for the release of Mendes’ fourth album Wonder on Dec. 4.
