Light Up Orillia - show your spirit, win prizes

Despite trying to find ways to hold a Santa Claus parade this year following Covid-19 safety guidelines, it just wasn't meant to be. Knowing that the parade always had a positive impact on the community, the Orillia and District Chamber of Commerce was determined to find a way to celebrate as a community.

Over several weeks, chamber members developed a format that would allow residents to Light Up Orillia Lake Country, decorating homes and businesses for all to enjoy safely, while offering up prizes that will help promote "Shop Local."

Doug Bunker from the Orillia and District Chamber of Commerce joined Jason and Carey to explain the event:

Residents and business owners are encouraged to enter pictures and videos of their festive displays between now and December 21st - the sooner the better because more people will see your display and vote for it online. There are categories for residential, large commercial and small commercial displays. Prizes including a $1,000 gift certificate for any Orillia Chamber of Commerce member and a socially distanced photo with santa, will be awarded for the displays that get the most votes.
