Province opens frontline child care centre in Barrie
As promised, the Ontario government has announced the opening of a child care centre in Barrie to help care for the children of healthcare heroes at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, local long term care homes and other frontline workers.
Doug Downey, MPP for Barrie-Springwater-OroMedonte, says the Barrie YMCA will be allowed to open for frontline workers.
"Our government is thankful for all the childcare professionals who are working hard to keep our children safe, and for our municipal partners and child care operators across the province, who made this possible," said Downey.
He added that he is proud that during these challenging times the provincial government is doing what they can to support the courageous frontline workers with emergency childcare centres so they can rest assured knowing their children are being looked after in a safe place.
As emergency childcare centres open, a list of locations will be made available here.
