Rotary Fun Run (and walk) goes Retro

The Rotary Club of Barrie is gearing up for the 35th Annual Fun Run on May 25th, at the Southshore Centre from 5:30 to 9pm.
Rotarian Eric Dean, a past Fun Run participant, joined Jason and Carey to chat about the event.
Each year, the event attracts more than a thousand participants of every ability to walk, run, stroll or saunter along Barrie's beautiful Waterfront. Choose a 5k walk, 5k run or a 10k run. There is also a Children's run - a nice short 250 metre race for younger participants. In addition, there are lots of other fun activities going on - including live music and warm up excercises to get you moving.
This year, the event has something extra to celebrate as it is the first in-person Run/Walk since 2019 after two virtual versions were held during Covid restrictions. Dubbed the Retro Run, this year participants are encouraged to dress up, representing their favourite decade from the 50s to the 90s.
Not only does the Fun Run bring the community together, participants - either through teams or as individuals - collect tens of thousands of dollars in pledges each year to support The Rotary Club of Barrie's charitable porjects. Among the beneficiaries in the past are RVH, the YMCA, Georgian College and more.
