Three Muskoka schools locked down yesterday after threat

Two students called Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Wednesday November 11, 2020 at 1:20 p.m. to report that another teen had made concerning comments about potentially committing an act of violence at a local high school.

The affected schools - Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary Schoo, Gravenhurst High School and Gravenhurst Public School - were quickly placed into a "hold and secure", which is an action taken by school administration to ensure that the school environment is safe by keeping all students inside and prohibiting the entry of anyone that is not a part of the school community.

A very short time later police located the suspect at a Bracebridge high school and took him into custody. There is currently no threat to public safety and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to please call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
