Man arrested following firearms incident in Cocagne
The RCMP has arrested a 57-year-old man and seized several firearms following an incident in Cocagne.
Police responded to a firearm complaint at a residence on Cocagne Cross Road around 4 a.m. on January 16th.
The RCMP say a person who had attempted to leave the property in their vehicle was shot at.
The vehicle was hit, but no injuries were reported.
Officers set up a perimeter as a precaution as additional police service responded to the scene, including RCMP Emergency Response Team and the RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team.
The man remained inside the residence until around 10;45 a.m. when negotiators were able to convince him to exit the house and he was arrested.
The following day, police executed a search warrant at the house and say they seized several unauthorized firearms that were unsafely stored, as well as ammunition.
Police say the man has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on May 12th.
