Nepisiguit Mi'gmaq Trail picked as top destination for 2022

news-update

National Geographic Traveller magazine has selected the Nepisiguit Mi'gmaq Trail in northern New Brunswick as one of the 25 most exciting destinations for 2022.

The 150 km trail extends from Daly Point Nature Reserve in Bathurst to Mount Carleton Provincial Park, following the path of the Nepisiguit River, and allows people to experience the ancient portage trails used by the Mi'gmaq people of the area.

The province says the restoration of the trail, completed in 2018, included incorporating Mi'gmaq language and culture, including teepee campsites along the route, and a logo inspired by Egomoqaseg.

Other destinations recognized in the adventure category include the Seine River in France, Palau, Costa Rica, and the Arapahoe Basin in Colorado.
