Ottawa, province investing $1.7 million in Port of Saint John
The federal and provincial governments are investing over $1.7 million to create a container village at the Port of Saint John.
A release states the village will consist of containers customized for local businesses, retail and hospitality vendors, a stage, lounge and plaza, and will create new tourism experiences and business opportunities along Saint John's waterfront.
Ottawa, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, is providing a non-repayable contribution of $1.295 million, while the provincial government is contributing $450,000 to the project.
The Port of Saint John is Atlantic Canada's largest port by volume, and occupies 300 acres of land along 12,800 feet of waterfront in Saint John Harbour.
