Pair temporarily displaced by Saint John fire Saturday

news-update

The Canadian Red Cross says two people were evacuated from their home as a precaution following a house fire in Saint John on the weekend.

A release states the fire, reported around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, heavily damaged a vacant home next to the couple's.

They were evacuated from their two-story home in the city's north end due to the smoke and intense flames.

Canadian Red Cross volunteers arranged lodging and meals for the pair and they are expected to be able to return home on Monday.

There were no injuries reported.
