Review of LPN job classification complete

New Brunswick

New Brunswick has completed a review of the licensed practical nurse (LPN) job classification.

Government says the review has determined the LPN job is no longer a good fit in its current occupational category and group, and as of October 8th, it was reclassified within the Nursing group.

The Department of Finance and Treasury Board says it will now work with the New Brunswick Nurses Union to finalize an agreement to transfer LPNs to their new group from their current Patient Services group, which is represented by CUPE.

LPNs and Registered Nurses (RNs) are in the same bargaining unit in several other jurisdictions across Canada.
