Two charged after firearms seized in Durham Bridge

A man and woman are facing charges after firearms were seized from a stolen vehicle in Durham Bridge.

Fredericton Police say officers identified a male suspect and a female passenger in a stolen vehicle on May 18th, which fled into RCMP jurisdiction in Durham Bridge.

Investigators say the pair were arrested following a short foot chase, and several rifles and shotguns were seized from the vehicle.

38-year old Garnet Vroom, of Fredericton, appeared in court the next day and is facing fifteen charges, including resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and nine weapons offences.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on June 5th.

Police say a 29-year old female, who was not named, has been charged with three offences, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and was released on a promise to attend court at a later date.
