Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School to re-open Monday

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Kingston's west-end will re-open to in-person learning on Monday after a number of COVID-19 cases were connected to the school.

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board said in a statement Friday that KFL&A Public Health has advised officials the school is allowed to re-open. It will now be open as usual on Monday, Nov. 23.

"I am very pleased to receive this news and I look forward to welcoming all students and staff back to our Catholic School community," school principal Stacey Porter-Eves said in a letter sent to parents on Friday.

"During the last two weeks we worked diligently with public health to take all necessary steps to ensure that all students and staff can return to a safe learning environment."

Staff pressures forced the school to close on Nov. 9 after three cases were identified at the school before an outbreak was declared late last week when a fourth case was found.
